Tue, 17 November 2009 ![]() This is a special episode of PFPL. David is on-location at NASA's Kennedy Space Center Press Site for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis on STS-129 to the International Space Station. This QuickCast was recorded only a couple of hours after the launch of Atlantis during the bus ride back to the KARS Park I parking area. With the shuttle launch - and the feelings it inspired - still fresh in everyone's mind, David asked everyone in the rear half of the bus for their first impressions of the launch. This episode is, simply, their answers. NASA has really embraced social media. As part of this, they have arranged several Tweet-Ups with various agencies. Tue, 20 October 2009 This week we talk to Rick Felty, a newly-minted private pilot who likes to film his flights from multiple angles with multiple cameras, thus giving us lucky viewers a really great perpective on the flight. Rick talks about some of the hurdles he had to overcome in his flight training, lists some of the podcasting resourced he used in his flight training, and discusses some a couple of emergencies that he overheard on the frequency during his flights. Stay tuned for some more exiting episodes. Also, Will and David have tentative plans to attend the 2009 AOPA Aviation Summit in Tampa, FL from November 5th through the 7th. If all goes well, we plan to bring some great coverage of the event to you in the form of several QuickCasts, a full-length podcast episode, and an abundance of Tweets. Sat, 3 October 2009 This week on The Pilot's Flight PodLog we welcome balloon pilot Kevin Knapp into the virtual hangar. Kevin is the Corporate Pilot for the Mayflower Transit hot air balloon. Kevin talks about how he got involved with ballooning, some of the various flights he has taken in balloons, how you can get involved with ballooning, and how balloons really capture the magic of flight. Wed, 16 September 2009 In our first episode after having returned home from EAA Airventure Oshkosh 2009, we welcome Brenden back into the virtual hangar. Brenden made an apperance on episode 14 when he was the President Elect of the Oregon Pilot's Association. During that episode, Brenden vowed to come back and tell us about getting his helicopter rating once he finished it. Well, here he is with a fresh helicopter rating to give us an insight into flying them. Will and David would like to make a couple of special shoutouts this week. First, we'd like to thank Jeb Burnside of The Uncontrolled Airspace Podcast for giving David a ride to Airventure in his Beechcraft Debonair. This was David's first trip to Oshkosh, and Jeb's unending generosity made the trip that much more amazing. Secondly, Will and David would like to thank Steve Tupper and Scott Cannizzaro for the continued use of the Thunderbird Groove on this podcast. But wait, there's more. During the jam session at Firebase myTransponder at Oshkosh, Scott turns to me and says, "Oh by the way, I'm going to make you a new mix that will work better for the podcast." How cool is that?! You will hear Scott's podcast-friendly mix of the Thunderbird Groove at the beginning if this episode. As always, please stay in touch with us. You can find both Will and David on Twitter. You can email us for comments, suggestions, or to be a guest at pilotsflightpodlog@gmail.com. You can also leave comments right on the podcast page at http://pilotwill.libsyn.com.
